Buying Brake Hoses at a Trade Show: Questions to Ask Before You Order

Release Time:

Sep 04,2026

Every booth at a parts trade show claims factory-direct quality and fast lead times. Five minutes of questions separate the suppliers with batch test reports from the ones with brochures. This guide covers what to ask at a brake hose booth, what to check on the spec sheet and the sample, and what needs to land on paper before you order.

Buying Brake Hoses at a Trade Show: Questions to Ask Before You Order

Every brake hose booth at a parts trade show says the same things: factory direct, certified, years of experience. The claims sound identical. The paperwork does not. Five minutes of questions separate the suppliers with batch test reports from the ones with brochures. Ask these before you send a purchase order.

Testing comes first

Ask what the factory tests on the finished assembly, before you ask about price. Every booth quotes a burst figure. Ask what else gets checked per batch, and whether the report travels with the goods. A batch report covering burst, low temperature, and ozone is the baseline you file. Ask to see a real report at the booth, not a sample page. Then match the batch number on it to your shipment when it arrives.

Read the spec sheet on the spot

The spec sheet answers three questions faster than the salesperson does. Working temperature shows where the hose is designed to live; our assemblies are rated from -48°C to +120°C. Cover material shows how the hose will age; EPDM resists ozone cracking far longer than natural rubber. Burst pressure shows the safety margin, quoted as a minimum value, 80 MPa on our low-expansion line. A sheet that lists materials and numbers is a working document. A sheet that lists adjectives is marketing.

Put MOQ and lead time on paper

Booth conversations drift. MOQ comes up as a range, lead time as a promise, and both sound firmer in person than they do in writing. Get the numbers in writing before you leave: the MOQ, the lead time from order to shipment, and the plan when the date slips. A supplier who answers from a printed price list, without checking with a colleague, has answered these questions before. One who quotes from memory gets a follow-up email, not an order.

Leave with the report, not just the card

You will collect dozens of business cards at any show. The suppliers who get your follow-up hand you more: a spec sheet with numbers and a sample of the batch test report. Back at the office, check that report against the product claims and verify the batch number would match a real shipment. That ten-minute desk check replaces a month of back-and-forth emails.

Need to see the paperwork before the show? Browse our standard brake hose assemblies and low expansion brake hose assemblies, where the spec sheets and test data are published with the products. At the Hanoi show, 9-11 September, we are at booth H4-G13 with sample kits and batch reports on the table.
